Akon is a Senegalese-American singer, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur. He was born Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam on April 16, 1973 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. His parents are both musicians, and Akon grew up listening to a wide variety of music including African rhythms, hip-hop, and soul. He spent his childhood in Senegal, where he learned to play instruments such as the djembe, guitar, and drums. When he was seven, his family moved to New Jersey and later settled in Atlanta, Georgia.
Akon was born into a musical family in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. His parents were Mor Thiam and Cain Gaye Thiam, both Senegalese musicians. Ekon’s father, Mor Thiam, is a famous drummer and jazz musician, and his mother, Khin Kuye Thiam, is a singer. He has several siblings, including two brothers and three sisters. His brother Boo Thiam is also a music manager and has worked with artists such as Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West.
Akon began his music career in the early 2000s, and his debut album Trouble was released in 2004. The album included hits such as “Locked Up” and “Lonely”, which helped Akon become a major player in the music industry. In the following years, Akon continued to release successful albums, including Convicted (2006), Freedom (2008), and Stadium (2015). He has worked with many musicians including Lady Gaga, T-Pain, and Eminem. His recently released album was “ TT freak “ released on the 2nd of December 2022.
Akon has six children of his own. He kept his private life private, so little is known about the identity of his children or their mother. However, in a 2019 interview, Akon mentioned that he has six children by three different women and that despite his busy life, he tries to maintain a close relationship with each of them.
Akon is not only a musician but also a successful entrepreneur. He has started several business ventures including Konvict Clothing, Konvict Muzik, and KonLive Distribution. He also founded Akon Lighting Africa, a solar energy company aiming to provide electricity to millions of people in Africa. Akon’s net worth was estimated to be around $60 million.
Akon has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including five Grammy Award nominations. He is considered one of the most successful and influential musicians of his generation.
